The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team secured their third consecutive road victory with a 65-60 win over Eastern Michigan on Tuesday night. The Falcons never trailed in the game, holding the Eagles to just 19 points in the first half. This win marks Bowling Green's first back-to-back conference victories this season and improves their record to 6-9 within the Mid-American Conference (MAC) with three games left in the regular season.
Javontae Campbell was instrumental for Bowling Green, leading both offensively and defensively. He recorded five steals, setting a new program single-season record with a total of 83 steals. Campbell also led his team with 25 points, seven assists, and tied for team-high rebounds at five. This performance marked his fourth consecutive game scoring over 20 points.
In addition to Campbell's standout performance, DaJion Humphrey contributed significantly with a season-high of 14 points and perfect shooting from beyond the arc. Derrick Butler added 11 points and matched Campbell's rebound count.
The Falcons' defense was effective against Eastern Michigan, limiting them to just one successful three-pointer out of sixteen attempts in the first half. Despite an initial second-half surge by Eastern Michigan that cut down BGSU’s lead, the Falcons maintained control throughout most of the game.
With this victory, Bowling Green has won five out of their last seven games. They will return home for their final Saturday contest of the regular season against Ball State at Stroh Center on March 1st.
