Bowling Green State University has announced the addition of Jason Kimbrough Jr. to its men's basketball team. Head coach Todd Simon confirmed the signing on April 24, 2025. Kimbrough, a 6-foot guard from Maricopa, Arizona, is transferring from Highland Community College in Illinois where he played during the 2024-25 season.
"We are excited to add Jason to the program," said Simon. "Jason is an exciting player that can beat you with his shooting, off the bounce, and his passing." Simon highlighted Kimbrough's performance as ninth in assists per game in the NJCAA and noted his impressive three-point shooting percentage of 45.6%. Simon believes that Kimbrough's style of play aligns well with Bowling Green's up-tempo system and anticipates further development under their program.
In his time at Highland Community College, Kimbrough started all 29 games, averaging 18.6 points per game. He maintained a field goal percentage of 47.9%, hit 45.6% from beyond the arc, and converted 85.9% of his free throws. He also recorded a total of 181 assists and added 50 steals throughout the season.
Kimbrough achieved three double-doubles in points and assists during the past season, including standout performances such as a 31-point, 10-assist game on December 13 and a 24-point, 12-assist game on January 8. His consistent scoring saw him achieve double-digit points in 26 games, with fourteen games exceeding twenty points and two surpassing thirty points.
Before joining Highland Community College, Kimbrough played for Phoenix College where he appeared in 26 games for the Bears. There he averaged 8.2 points per game while shooting at a rate of 41.3% from the field and achieving an assist average of 4.6 per game.
